Museum Maassluis Tour – March 17, 2026
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of guiding a group of eleven enthusiastic volunteers from Museum Maassluis through the new exhibition “Madness”. What a wonderful, eager-to-learn group. It is always special to see how eager the front desk staff are to immerse themselves in the artworks, so that they can welcome visitors with extra knowledge and enjoyment.

We viewed a number of artworks in small groups, each guided by a few simple yet surprisingly insightful questions: What do you see first? How do you recognize the theme of madness? What style is the work made in? What emotion does it evoke? By looking and talking together, new insights and unexpected details emerged.

We concluded with a joint reflection:
– Does this way of looking help us tell visitors more later on?
– Which form of madness appealed to you the most?
– Which work surprised you the most?

I enjoyed your openness, attention, and curiosity.
Thank you very much for allowing me to conduct this tour with you. I look forward to seeing you again.
