Introduction – Bikkel Artist
I am Bikkel Artist (Curaçao, 1948), a visual artist working in glass and painting. From my studio in Maassluis — the BAM, Bikkel Artist Museum — I work daily on my core collection and on new series. My work moves between inner strength, identity, humanity and symbolism. I work in cycles: the Open Line, the Dense Line and the Free Line.
My paintings and glass works arise from layers, intuition and material awareness. Glass represents water, transparency and flow. Metal represents pain, scars and strength. Colour is emotion, movement and direction.
In 2026 my first museum‑quality catalogue was published, bringing together my glass works and paintings as one artistic life line. Under Publications you can view this complete catalogue.
